Division V — Education & Credentialing Governance

Master Fellow in Applied Behavioural Science

MFABS  ·  GIB Division V
Level III — Master Educator  ·  Senior Recognition Credential

The Master Fellow in Applied Behavioural Science is GIB's senior recognition credential, awarded to established practitioners who have demonstrated sustained, significant contribution to the applied behavioural science field across practice, research, training, or institutional development.

MFABS is a senior-level designation. Applications are by nomination or direct application with comprehensive evidence submission. A minimum of 10 years applied practice and documented contribution to the field is expected. Candidates who do not yet meet this threshold are encouraged to pursue Level I or Level II certification through the relevant Division pathway.

The Credential

What MFABS Recognises

The MFABS is not primarily examination-based. Unlike GIB's Level I and Level II credentials — which are assessed through structured written and practical examinations — the Master Fellow designation is awarded through a professional contribution portfolio review conducted by a senior GIB panel.

The credential recognises a career of sustained, meaningful engagement with applied behavioural science. This may include significant clinical or operational practice, published research or scholarship, the development of training curricula or professional programmes, or leadership of institutions working in the field.

MFABS holders are recognised as senior figures in the applied behavioural science community. The designation carries the expectation of continued contribution and active engagement with the field, and is subject to a 3-year renewal cycle that includes continued professional development and evidence of ongoing contribution.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility Requirements

All of the following criteria must be satisfied before an application will be considered by the MFABS panel. Applications that do not meet minimum requirements will not be progressed.

The Assessment Process

Unlike GIB's examination-based credentials, the MFABS is assessed through a portfolio review and professional contribution assessment conducted by a senior GIB panel comprising Fellows and senior advisors.

Maintaining MFABS Status

50
CPD Hours Required
Minimum 50 hours of continuing professional development per 3-year renewal period, documented and submitted with renewal application.
