What GIB Certification Represents

GIB is an independent examining and certifying body. We are not a training provider. Candidates prepare through GIB-approved training organisations or through self-directed study against our published competency frameworks — then sit GIB's independent examination.

Certification represents verified professional competency against GIB's published standards. It is not a record of course completion. A GIB credential indicates that the holder has been independently assessed and found to meet the defined standard for that credential level.

All credentials are maintained through a two-year renewal cycle, which includes continuing professional development requirements and adherence to the GIB Code of Professional Ethics. The renewal cycle ensures that credentials remain an accurate reflection of current professional standing.

01
Independent Examination
GIB examinations are set and assessed independently of training providers. The assessment process tests applied competency, not familiarity with course content.
02
Three Credential Levels
Each division offers three credential levels — Practitioner, Specialist, and Master Educator — structured to reflect progression in knowledge, experience, and professional contribution.
03
2-Year Renewal Cycle
Active credentials require renewal every two years, including a minimum of 30 CPD hours, a renewal declaration, and confirmation of continued ethics adherence.
Certification Divisions

Five Specialist Divisions

GIB certifications are organised across five specialist divisions, each addressing a distinct domain of applied behavioural science. Candidates select the division most relevant to their professional context and career development goals.

Division I
Behavioural Analysis & Nonverbal Intelligence
Covers the systematic observation, interpretation, and structured analysis of human behaviour in professional contexts. Candidates develop rigorous frameworks for behavioural assessment, including verbal and nonverbal communication analysis and the responsible application of behavioural indicators.

Certification Process

How the Certification Process Works

The GIB certification pathway is structured to be clear and sequential. Candidates should familiarise themselves with the relevant division and credential before applying.

01
Choose a Division
Review the five certification divisions and identify the domain most relevant to your professional context and goals.
02
Select a Certification
Within your chosen division, determine the appropriate credential level — Practitioner, Specialist, or Master Educator — based on your current experience and qualifications.
03
Confirm Eligibility
Review the admissions requirements for the selected credential level to confirm you meet the eligibility criteria before submitting an application.
04
Submit Application
Complete and submit the GIB certification application form. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, with an initial response within 10–15 working days.
05
Complete Assessment
Sit the GIB independent examination, which covers behavioural theory, applied analysis, case evaluation, and ethical application. Assessment is calibrated to division-specific content.
06
Maintain Credential
Certified practitioners maintain their credential through a two-year renewal cycle, including minimum CPD hours, a renewal declaration, and ongoing ethics adherence.
Credential Levels

Three Credential Levels

GIB credentials are structured across three progressive levels within each division, reflecting increasing depth of knowledge, professional experience, and contribution to the field.

Level I
Practitioner
The entry-level professional credential in the relevant division. Demonstrates foundational competency in applied behavioural science as assessed against GIB's published standards. Suitable for professionals establishing formal practitioner recognition in their field. Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience and completion of an approved or self-directed preparation pathway.
Level II
Specialist
An advanced credential for experienced practitioners. Demonstrates specialist-level competency in applying behavioural science methods in professional contexts. Requires a current active GIB Level I credential (or assessed equivalent) and a minimum of two years of documented professional practice. Examination content reflects greater depth and applied complexity relative to Level I.
Level III
Master Educator
A senior credential for established professionals with significant professional contribution. Appropriate for those who train practitioners, lead organisations, or contribute to the development of professional knowledge in the field. Requires a current active GIB Level II credential, a minimum of five years of senior professional practice, and evidence of contribution to professional knowledge — such as publications, training delivery, or institutional development.
Professional Value

Why Structured Certification Matters

Professional certification provides a structured framework for competency validation, continuing professional development, and recognised professional standing. The following points reflect the substantive value GIB credentials are designed to deliver.

Competency Validation
A GIB credential provides independent, examination-based confirmation that the holder meets defined professional standards — not a record of attendance or course completion.
CPD Structure
The two-year renewal cycle and CPD requirements provide a practical framework for ongoing professional development, encouraging sustained engagement with current research and practice.
Organisational Alignment
For organisations, GIB credentials provide a consistent, independently verified benchmark for behavioural science competency across staff, supporting structured workforce development.
Professional Standing
Credential holders are listed in the GIB registry and may use their credential designation professionally. The registry is publicly verifiable, supporting credibility in client-facing and institutional contexts.
Registry Recognition
All active GIB credentials are recorded in the GIB public registry, which can be verified by employers, clients, and professional partners using the credential reference number.
Standards Adherence
The GIB Code of Professional Ethics sets defined boundaries for responsible practice, including appropriate acknowledgment of the limitations of behavioural methods — a framework for ethical professional conduct.
Important Notice

GIB credentials are professional development qualifications issued by an independent certifying body. They are not accredited by, affiliated with, or endorsed by any government agency, military branch, law enforcement authority, or intelligence body. GIB credentials do not confer government authority, operational clearance, or clinical licensure of any kind. Credential holders are required by the GIB Code of Professional Ethics to represent their credentials accurately and within the limits of their defined scope of practice.
